Shannon Brown, RYT

Shannon BrownShannon loves to share yoga and finds that sharing yoga makes her smile.  Shannon has a smile that makes people feel welcome and appreciated, and she smiles a lot!

Shannon works in the mental health field with 18 years of experience providing direct support and supervision in residential group homes.  Shannon’s personal yoga practice began on a whim when she signed up for an adult education class many years ago.  Initially, she was nervous and did not consider herself “bendy,” Yoga quickly became her way to cope with stress and to quiet her busy mind.  Her flexibility increases with time and continues to be a work in progress.  Her yoga path has been filled with bumps and turns, not always consistent, at times waylaid by injuries, but it is a path that she is always happy to continue.  Inspired by the benefits of yoga that she saw for herself, her teaching began informally when she started a chair yoga and meditation class for her group home residents.

In Shannon’s classes, whether slow flow, gentle, or moderate, she offers a focus on the fundamentals of connecting movement with breath, quieting the mind, and being present in the moment.  Shannon fosters the intentions of loving kindness and being gentle with yourself and others, because not only do you benefit from your time on the mat so does everyone else in your life.

Shannon completed her 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training at The Tula Institute of Yoga in 2016.  She offers classes at Posabilities in Norway, ME and looks forward to meeting you on the mat soon.

Niki Venter MSW, RYT-200

Niki VenterNiki has always been a high energy and physically active person spending most of her life riding and training horses. In the early 70’s she slipped a disc in her back as a result of a riding injury. She discovered a love and connection to yoga when a close friend invited her to a yoga class. She found that the strength and flexibility she developed practicing yoga helped both her back and her riding. With daily practice, she began to discover a mentally calming benefit as well. As her interest grew her teacher invited her to take a yoga teacher training course. Although her original intent was to learn as much as she could about the practice of yoga, she soon discovered the joy of teaching. Niki feels that Yoga prepares you for all of life mentally, emotionally, and spiritually, and she is eager to share this with all who attend her classes.

Niki’s Yoga training and education include:
2006    200 hours registered yoga teacher training  Namaste Yoga Studio Richfield, Ohio
2007    Continued training with Todd Norian in Anusara style yoga training level 1 and 2
2008    Yin/Mindfulness training Sarah powers Kripalu
2009    Weekend training with John Friend Anusara yoga.

Ashley Crittenden, RYT-200

Ashley CrittendonAshley lives in the Boston area and has practiced yoga since 2008. She began her practice at a local studio around the corner from her daughter’s preschool. What started as a convenience quickly became a much-loved practice, and she began reading books, visiting other Boston studios, and continued to learn about yoga. Having struggled with worry and anxiety all of her life, she couldn’t believe the sense of peace and well-being that came from simply spending a little time each day on her mat.  She continues to find yoga a spiritual practice as well as a physical one and tries to share that in her classes.

Ashley completed her 200 hour training in Boston with Kathy Keane at the Finding Inner Peace Yoga School in 2012. She did an adolescent yoga training through OmSchooled in 2015, and she is currently studying Energy Medicine Yoga with Lauren Walker. She is very grateful to have found a second yoga-home in Maine at Posabilities!

Ree Russell, RYT-200

Ree RussellAfter a serious injury in her early 20s that left Ree unable to do almost any physical activity (for what her doctor said would be 6- to 10-years), she decided to try yoga with her doctor’s approval, and she fell in love. After a few years of regular yoga practice, Ree was introduced to meditation (and loved it!) and has had a regular practice for over three years.

Ree and her family moved to central Maine in June 2015, where she quickly discovered Posabilities and loved the studio so much that she decided it was time to teach yoga herself and signed up for the 200-hr Yoga Teacher Training. Ree has been an RYT-200 since May 2016.

Ree is a mom, avid organic gardener, forager, reader, writer, and lover of peace and quiet. She has been practicing yoga for over 16 years.
